WORLD SYNOPSIS

Playing Dirty is a dramatic coming-of-age sports series set at an elite high school known for its nationally ranked football program. The story follows Maddie Hart, a determined and talented athlete who enrolls at Jefferson Academy to honor her late father's legacy by earning a spot on the school's prestigious football team. As the only female competitor, Maddie faces intense scrutiny, resistance, and social hostility from both students and athletes who challenge her place in a traditionally male-dominated sport.

At the center of this conflict is Ashton Leader, the school's star quarterback and a highly recruited athlete whose influence shapes the school's social hierarchy. Initially dismissive of Maddie, Ashton becomes her primary rival as she proves her skill on the field. Their competitive dynamic gradually evolves into a complicated relationship that impacts both their personal and athletic goals.

Some productions challenge you with scale. Playing Dirty challenged us to keep up with its energy.

Filmed in just seven production days, we had the rare opportunity to fully immerse ourselves inside a real school campus, allowing Jefferson Academy to become a believable world rather than simply a collection of locations. Hallways, classrooms, locker rooms, football fields, and stadiums all became part of one cohesive cinematic environment.

Playing Dirty also featured more practical gags than any production we had tackled before. Mud, paint, soda, dirt, overflowing sinks, bra straps, chewing gum, and countless wardrobe and prop moments all required careful planning to ensure every take landed exactly as intended while keeping the production moving at an aggressive pace.

More than anything, the project became a celebration of the electric spirit of early 2000s romantic comedies and teen dramas. We wanted every frame to capture the excitement, awkwardness, rivalry, humor, and optimism that made those films so memorable, while bringing that same fun, heartfelt energy into the world of modern vertical storytelling.
